
Giraffes in Kidepo Valley National Park
This 3-day self-guided Uganda tour starts and ends in Kampala Uganda’s capital city and the biggest city. You will visit Kidepo Valley National Park the third-largest national park in the country covering over 1440sqkm. It is found in the Northeastern corner of Uganda in the Kaboongo District. The park is the most isolated national park in the country, but the few who make the long journey north through the wild frontier region of Karamoja would agree that it is also the most magnificent. The park hosts a variety of wildlife including over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species and it is also home to a profusion of the big game.
Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National park.
The first day of the trip will start with an early morning breakfast at your hotel where the drive from Safari Car Rental Uganda Ltd will bring the car to you and you do the car inspection, do the paperwork, and later complete the payment before he heads over the car keys to and you start your safari by driving heading to the northeastern part of the country up to the park the journey which can take up to 8 hours drive. You will follow Kampala – Karuma – Gulu through Kitgum to the far North – East where Uganda borders Kenya and Southern Sudan. you will finally reach the national park in the late evening and you check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Apoke Lodge/Nga’moru Wilderness Camp/Apoka Rest Camp/National Park Bandas at Apoka.
Day 2: Game Drive and Guided Village Walk.

Game Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the national park headquarters where you can either hire a ranger guide to take you through the game drive or you can choose to do it your self and enjoy a game drive expect to watch a variety of wildlife that concentrate around the Narus Valley and to Kanangorok hot spring. Some of the animals that you may see in the park include; buffaloes, elephants, bushbuck, Rothschild giraffe, and Burchell’s zebra, and the Ostriches. There is also a possibility of seeing tree-climbing lions that always sit on sauces trees along the Narus valley or on rocks. Drive back slowly for leisure at the camp for full breakfast and lunch. After lunch, you will enjoy a guided nature walk which may give you a chance to meet the Karamajongo people at Karenna and Kapedo who leave adjacent. You will learn about their homesteads generally known as manyattas, their traditions, and local products. It’s such an amazing chance to meet these people and learn more about their culture. After this adventurous tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge as on day one.
Day 3: Return to Kampala.
Have breakfast at the lodge and transfer back to Kampala and this time you will use another route with is a bit longer that will take you through Kabong – Kotido – Moroto where you will have en-route lunch and then after you will continue to Soroti – Mbale and later to Kampala reaching late in the evening and check in to your hotel in Entebbe or depending continue directly to Entebbe International Airport in case your flight is scheduled on that same day.
